WHAT TO EXPECT
This program is offered as a year-long, in-school Residency or as a shorter, performance-oriented, 8-week program. All instruction takes place during school hours. Teaching Artists provide up to 3, hour-long classes per week during the course of the program. SSTTA is available for both Elementary and High schools.
BEFORE WE BEGIN:
Black Ensemble Teaching Artist and Director of Education will meet with the classroom teacher(s) to discuss day(s), times, and location (room numbers, etc.) for instruction. This meeting is also an opportunity for the Teaching artist to learn more about what the students will be studying throughout the school year and for teachers to request a focus on particular academic areas.
DURING THE PROGRAM:
Each week, Teaching Artists will utilize drama, music, and dance in activities designed to enhance the learning, cognitive, and social skills of students. Through these activities, students will develop a culminating show which will be performed on the Black Ensemble Theater stage.
AFTER THE PROGRAM:
Teachers will have an opportunity to offer feedback. Student and teacher assessments will be collected.
