Black Ensemble Theater is currently seeking interns for the following areas:
Administrative intern:
We are seeking a responsible Intern to provide administrative support to our Associate Directors. Duties will include a variety of administrative and clerical tasks. Interns should have excellent communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. See detailed duties and requirements below.
Duties:
- Answer and direct phone calls
- Help organize and schedule meetings
- Take detailed notes during meetings
- Write and distribute emails, letters, faxes, and other correspondence
- Help maintain various filing systems
- Act as point of contact when Associate Directors are unavailable
- Other duties as requested by Associate Directors
Desired Skills and requirements:
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong organizational skills
- Positive attitude and strong interpersonal skills
- Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel)
- Theatre experience preferred
- All applicants must be 18 years or older
Casting intern:
We are a seeking highly organized intern to provide assistance in the casting department. Applicants should have a strong interest in casting, directing, or acting. This position requires someone who can work well independently and meet deadlines. See detailed duties and requirements below.
Duties:
- Processing email submissions for auditions
- Scanning and filing headshots/resumes
- Scheduling audition times and following up for confirmation
- Communicating important audition details to actors
- Preparing and setting up for auditions
- Assisting with auditions
- Other duties as requested
Desired skills and requirements:
- Interest in casting, directing, or acting
- Excellent organizational skills
- Strong written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills
- Attention to detail and good time management
- Experience with Microsoft Word and Excel
- Theatre experience preferred
- All applicants must be 18 years or older
- Some daytime and evening flexibility preferred
Additional information:
Time Commitment: 3 months. Start and completion dates are semi-negotiable. Interns will be scheduled for no more than 20 hours /week.
Internship Benefits:
- $50 weekly stipend
- 2 free tickets to current Black Ensemble Theater productions
- Free admission to any studio classes (when applicable)
